| Pesnya dlya Evropi '96 - Song for Europe '96 | |
| Russian National Final was held on March 2nd at TV-channel RTR's studio in Moscow, hosted by Youdiph (Masha Katz), who had represented Russia in 1994. The winner was chosen by 16 professionals in musical sphere ("experts"), one of whom was Alla Pugacheva. Other jury members were A.Ribnikov, I.Otieva, P.Ovsyannikov... The day before on March 1st the draw of participants had been held at Shabolovskij TV-center's square. | |

| After all participants performed their songs, Youddiph sang her new composition "Ocean". Then jury announced the winning song ("Ya - Eto Ya") and all the rest places were kept secret for spectators. At the end of the show Andrey Kosinsky sang his entry once more, but Russian song was eliminated in the preselection (for details, see partition 'Russia in Eurovision' -> 1996). |
