 BELARUS IN EUROVISION 2004Aleksandra & Konstantin (aka "A & K") «My Galileo» | ||

unofficial site: http://ak.fromby.net/ music by Aleksandra Kirsanova & Konstantin Drapezo, words by Aleksey Solomaha The Biography. Aleksandra (Aleksandra Kirsanova) was born in 1980. She is a student of the Belarusian State University of Culture. She plays 6 (!) musical instruments professionally. In 1999 Aliaksandra won the 3rd prize in the TV contest of young talented performers "Zornaya Rostan" (Belarus). And in 2002 she participated in the International Contest of Popular Song "Vitebsk 2002" (a part of "Slavianski Bazar" Festival) and won the 2nd prize. Aleksandra has beautiful voice, and she likes more to sing in folk-modern, country and blues styles. She thinks, that in a new century ethnic melodies will be main themes in art. In her childhood she dreamed of beeing ... a little birdie. It seems, her dream came truth as every time she sings, music gives new wings to her and she flies up to the sky. Her mottos is «Let every day be the best moment in your life!». She likes animals and travelling. Her favourite musician is Shania Twain The biggest success in her life is that she met guitarist Konstantin Drapezo, whom she works with. Also he became Aleksandra's husband. 
Konstantin was born in 1972. He played guitar since 12 years old. His favourite musician is Al Di Meola. Konstantin likes music, travelling and ... Aleksandra.5 years ago Konstantin already had a music group and groupmembers were looking for vocalist only - and Aleskandra came to them. But the destiny said its words and Konstantin stayed together with Aleksandra only. He saw and felt in her the human, who would give everything to music. And Konstantin was not mistaken. Her talent was growing every moment and astonished everybody. Participation in contest of young and talented artists "Zornaya Rostan" in 2000 became 1st real success in professional artistic activity of duo 'Aleksandra & Konstantin'. That year group won 100 hours for working and recording in studio of BelTeleRadioCompany as a prize. So they recorded debute album titled “Za lihimi, za marozami”. Aleksandra Kirsanova and Konstanting Drapezo are also artists of Belarussian State Concert Orchestra. Despite hard work in such serious musical collective, duo often has tours abroad, participates in international folk-festivals. In summer 2003 they performed at International Contest in Kazakhstan «Astana» with belarussian folk song «Sena». Duo received the prize for the best arrangement. Group “A & K” is also prizewinner of ethno and folk music contest "Ethnosphere- 2002” in Poland. "A & K" took part in festivals and concert in Estonia, Germany, The Ukraine. Nowadays all duo's repertoire constists of 2 parts. It features cover versions of country, blues and jazz songs. And the 2nd part is a number of compositions in belarussian folk style. But in A & K opinion, their folk songs sound a bit of country. In 2003 group released the 2nd album «Sojka». And this one features only tracks in belarussian folk-modern style. Both singers live and work in Borisov, Belarus In Russia duo were on tours twice. In 2000 group performed in Zheleznogorsk. And in september 2003 "Aleksandra & Konstantin" took part in gala concert of Belarussian POP stars in hall "Rossija", which was dedicated to Belarussian Days in Moscow. It's said, that duo's performance was the most original one in all concert. Such impression and emotion in ethnic style! Duo sang a song "Seno". Eurovision. On 31st of January 2004 Aleksandra and Konstantin were the best among other 14 participants in Belarussian National Final. Duo got a chance to be First Belarussian Representatives in Eurovision Song Contest. Song "My Galileo" was sang in English and received the most of all TV-viewers votes. — We wanna make attractive song, which can be understood by belarussian and by european audience as well — Konstantin and Aleksandra said. - Music for "My Galileo" was composed in 2000. — This song astonished us, it was very different to what we sang that days, — Konstantin Drapezo told. - And we understood, that "My Galileo" is original and potentional hit. "A & K" recorded 1st version of the song and it remained unreleased and kept secret. And the time has come. Singers received information on 1st National Final in Belarus and decided to take part in it with old potentional hit "My Galileo". Professional translator Aleskej Solomakha wrote English words for this entry. The most of musical critics in Belarus consider "My Galileo" to be 100% hit in many countries. Good luck, Belarus! | ||
