The 49th Eurovision Song Contest - Eurovision 2004 - went through 2 stages because of great number (36!) of countries which wished to participate in that event. On Wednesday 12th of May 2004 the qualification round was held. Countries participating in this pre-final ended up lower than the 10th place last year or didn't participate last year at all due to a low score two years ago. The top 10 countries from the qualifying round took part in the big final of Eurovision on Saturday. The 10 qualified for the final were: Serbia & Montenegro, Malta, The Netherlands, Albania, The Ukraine, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, FYR Macedonia, Greece, Cyprus. Sad for these countries, they didn't participate in Saturday's final. On Saturday 15th of May 2004 the Big Final of ESC was held.
