| Eurovision Song Contest 2005 | ||
The 50th Eurovision Song Contest - Eurovision 2005 - will go through 2 stages because of great number (39!) of countries which wish to participate in this event.On Thursday 19th of May 2005 the qualification round will be held. Countries participating in this pre-final ended up lower than the 10th place (excluding Big Four) in Eurovision 2004 Final (Austria, Belgium, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Iceland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania), countries placed lower than 10th position in ESC 04 qualifying round (Andorra, Belarus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Monaco, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland), countries-newcomers (Bulgaria, Moldova) and Hungary, which participated last time in 1998. The top 10 countries from the qualifying round will take part in the big final of Eurovision 2005 on Saturday. On Saturday 21th of May 2005 the Big Final of ESC will be held. There are 24 participants in the final of Eurovision: top 10 from the qualification round and 14 "direct" participants which are assured of a place in the final. These countries are the Big Four (France, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom) and top 10 from last year's contest (Albania, Bosnia & Hercegovina, Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Russia, Serbia & Montenegro, Turkey, Sweden, The Ukraine). The venue for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest will be the Palats Sportu (Kiev's Sports Palace). The hosts for Eurovision 2005 will be DJ Pasha and Masha Efrosinina. On 22nd of March 2005 heads of delegations met in Kiev and the draw for running order was held.
